This is the most common question that I get from first time home buyers. Unfortunately, “legally” I can’t tell you what’s a good town or neighborhood because they don’t want agents to “steer” people into certain areas. I understand this rule but I also don’t think it’s right for an agent who KNOWS an area has a lot of crime to not mention it to their clients. This is why I’m creating a podcast, “Loving Midwest Living”. The Facebook page is already up and running so you can check it information about neighborhoods, communities, and events. This podcast will help highlight cities and towns that are very family friendly and that are popular for couples with kids to like live.
To determine crime in an area, there’s a lot of good apps out there but my favorite is called, SpotCrime. It’s a free app and it will show you information based upon the police blotter. Remember that bad people are everywhere and people travel to commit crimes so you have to drive around the area to check it out for yourself.
I hope this tip helps you out and feel free to contact me for more information.
